Welcome to "The Journey"

Genesis chapter 12 begins "Then the Lord told Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you." (NLT)

In reality since that time the people of God have been a people on "the go". Recently, we traveled to Honolulu to be a part of God's kingdom as church planters. While we still don't fully understand all the reasons, God made it clear to us that that ministry had come to an end and that he was calling us to return back to the Kansas City area. Abram was obedient to the call of God and went where he believed God was leading him and we have tried to be obedient as well whether that is a planned move to Honolulu or an unplanned move back to Olathe.

At present, we are on the journey as Pastor of Congregational Care at Central Church in Lenexa, KS. This is a new position for me and a new position for the congregation. We are working to create the right structures and relationships to allow for this congregation to receive the care that God desires for them through a network of pastoral relationships.

We also continue on the journey as a consultant with SunGard Higher Education as a Principal Consultant for the Banner Student product. This position allows me to journey literally all over the continent and I make relationships with people as clients and fellow journeyers on airplance. My desire is that these relationships can also be used for God's kingdom purposes.

Pray for my family as we are on this journey together. Debbie takes a daily journey into Kansas City, KS as a reading teacher. Many of the children that she works with on a daily basis need the love of God in their lives. Debbie strives to be an instrument of God's love in the midst of a school system. Alex is now a bus rider and takes a daily journey to her middle school. Pray that she stays true to her Christian relationships in the midst of middle school pressures and makes positive friends in these days. Pray that Alex's friends will respond to her invitiations to come to church activities.

I invite you to be a partner on this journey with me. Drop me an e-mail if you would like to be notified when I update this site (tjohnson@kccentral.org). I'm excited about these new steps of our journey with God. I invite you to come along for the journey.
